Spring Flurry

Today is filled with packing, excitment and I'd be lying if I didn't add a little anxiety.

Excitment - Spring break has officially begun. Report cards and parent/teacher intervews are behind us. The progress reports showed us the kids are working hard. The teachers were complimentary and expressed interest in helping our kids be successful. I admit, we have yet to go visit the high school teachers, but that's OK. Perhaps one day...

Packing - Amy has been packing and looking forward to a school trip. The grade 7 & 8's are taking the opportunity to travel with EF Tours to the East. They are going to Montreal, Quebec City and Ottawa. They are going for a week - the first week of spring break. I am anticipating a lot of sleeping for the second week.

At the same time, Kari and I are also packing. I decided to take the opportunity to drive to La Crete for the week. It has probably been about 3 years since I travelled north to visit my family. We will stay for about a week as well.

Anxiety - My daughter is heading across the country on her own. She will be with the tour group and a few great teachers, but still, my daughter is going across Canada on her own. - Sigh - this will give her an oportunity to practice independance. So happy for her, but a little anxious.

Not to mention taking a 12 hour drive in the winter time... I haven't done that since college days. I know the route, and so I know there is nothing much between Manning and High Level. Here's to hoping I stay on the road and all the tires remain round. Doesn't help that Wind Mobile does not have a tower in the marshes of northern Albera.

Here's to hoping we at least see a moose...

Meanwhile, we are leaving all the boys behind. They can fend for themselves - sounds like they are really looking forward to the week. I think they plan to live on steak, eggs, pizza and nachos. I hope they remember the dog...
