Vintage Plates

For those who had been following my Vintage Plates BOM, I am happy to report I have finally completed this quilt top. I had been making the freebies only, and was struggling with a final layout. In the end, I tossed one of the finished blocks, added two additional blocks for a total of 13 blocks. I created some simple disappearing nine patch fillers, added a variety of sashing and borders, laid everything on point and hoped for the best. This is quite a large quilt, perhaps the largest so far and I will likely need to take it to a quilter for the stitching. However, I am quite pleased with the final result - I even took it in to show Bernadette (designer) and she gave me a thumbs up.

Craftsy Block of the Month

At the same time, I am once again working on the Craftsy Block of the Month program. This is a free on-line program where Laura Nownes introduces and teaches a new block design at the beginnning of each month.

These are the January, February, March and April patterns. I'm doing this one entirely in blacks and white with just a pop of golden sunshine. Really enjoying the look of it so far.

BOM 2013

With the last years BOM's complete, I figured it was the perfect time to jump right into the next pattern. I'm going  with the Traditional Pastimes Freebie 15 program. Its a great program where you pay a fee the first month to receive your pattern and fabric for the first block. After that, as long as you show up on the 15th of the following month and show them you've completed your block, you receive the next month free. You may purchase the companion if you like, but so far I have just stuck to the freebie block. Last week I just happened to come in time for the Friday Demo and I made a few new friends. Sandy, Mabel, Millie... you get the idea. I may have been the only one with brown hair (at least the natural kind). Mostly grandma's, but hey, they were very kind, very friendly and full of advice :)
