Eastern Vacation - Day 6

We packed in a full day of Quebec City. Being Alberta prairie mennonites, we had a great time enjoying the French culture. So we drove across the river looking for the Plains of Abraham.

We found the park below the plains and parked there.

We thought it would be really fun to navigate through the park to find the Cap Blanc Stairs - 398 steps! The longest wooden staircase in Quebec City - originally built in 1868. Thankfully there were a number of landings for us to pause and catch our breath... while Rob waited up ahead for the rest of us.

Finally finding the Plains of Abraham at the top.

We explored on our own, but then decided to take in the guided tour of the plains...

Our guide was knowledgeable and we gained a lot of history information.

Not because we were bored, but more for the sake of time, we ducked out of the tour early and headed over to the Old city section.

Here we found more stairs, narrow streets, gift shops, coffee shops...

Colourful doors and shutters...

Vines and flowers...

Stone everywhere! So French...

We caped off the day by heading just out of town a short ways looking for an authentic french cafe to eat supper at. My children, perhaps a bit embarrassed by my lack of the french language, but the waitress was a good sport and we enjoyed a great meal.

Quebec City. Although I could not speak a word of french, this was probably one of my favourite places to visit during the entire trip.
